Mesquite – Cultivating Artistic Excellence

 Mesquite, Nevada has a vibrant and growing arts community. With a diverse cultural history, Mesquite is an inspiring environment for creative energy and expression.


 

The Greater Mesquite Arts Foundation is the advocate voice for the Arts Community in Mesquite advancing arts, culture and promoting “October is ARTS Month.” The annual Greater Mesquite Festival of the ARTS in early October is a venue to display the talents of artists, crafters, performers and builds visitor participation in the local arts experience.

 
Virgin Valley Artists Association

 The Virgin Valley Artists Association promotes the power of the arts throughout the community with its educational, vocational and recreational art programs.

Activities include free-to-the-public artist receptions, competitions, guest lecturers and art classes. Popular events such as the Spring Art Salon, Lucky 13 National Small Works Exhibition and the Annual Student Art Show and Exhibit are presented at the Mesquite Fine Arts Center operated by the Association. The Center, includes a gallery and exhibition room, gift shop and classroom. The Mesquite Fine Arts Center provides local artisans a beautiful venue to display and sell their paintings, jewelry, pottery, stained glass, sculptures and more. The Center is also plays host to a number of traveling exhibitions throughout the year

 

The Mesquite Arts Council spotlights the performing arts and invites the community to experience the thrill of live performance with its many concerts. The Council’s outreach program has been successful in hosting the Missoula Children’s Theatre, sponsoring community specialty acts and performers for the entertainment of local residents. Each November, the Council hosts the Annual Festival of Trees, a time-honored family event that helps escort in the holiday season.
 
Virgin Valley Theatre Group

 Mesquite’s local theatre troupe has a bustling season including comedies, dramas, and musicals. The troupe has presented ‘Steel Magnolias,’ ‘The Little Shop of Horrors,’ ‘Cowgirls’ and ‘Catch Me if You Ccan’ to rave reviews. Attendance and support continue to rise as the theatre’s appeal captures the delight of all ages. The group also offers theater classes for children and adults and hosts the ‘Mesquite Kids on Stage’ productions such as “Cinderella’ and ‘101 Dalmations’ in 2008 which captured the audience hearts.
 

  

This former auditorium for the old Mesquite Elementary School Campus received a $300,00 renovation through the efforts of the arts community’s ARTS Roundtable and the City of Mesquite’s Redevelopment Agency. Greater Mesquite Arts Foundation, Virgin Valley Artists Association, Mesquite Arts Council, Virgin Valley Theatre Group, Ms. Senior Mesquite Pageant and Mesquite-Toes Tap Team contribute to the reinvigoration of this entire facility. The Mesquite Community Theatre seats 209 for performances and theater productions.
 

  

Virgin Valley Heritage Museum

 Located in the heart of the city, the Virgin Valley Heritage Museum reflects the artistry of Mesquite’s earliest beginnings. From Native American artifacts dating back thousands of years to those inspiring historical pieces representative of the areas pioneer heritage, the Museum is a popular stop-off for locals and visitors alike.
 

Mesquite-Toes Tap Team

 With performances scheduled at the Great Wall of China and past engagements on Holland Cruise Lines Caribbean Adventures, the ‘Toes’ are Mesquite’s Good Will Ambassadors. Their performances regularly fill venues locally and receive high praise on land and on the high seas. Their special combinations of old favorites with new interpretations captivate their audiences. 

 

Ms. Senior Mesquite Pageant

 A new tradition for Mesquite – celebrating the ‘Age of Elegance.’ This pageant emphasizes and honors women as it exemplifies the dignity, maturity and inner beauty of all senior Americans. Coupled with our ‘Man About Town’ competition, this annual event encourages involvement and participation from within our thriving senior population.
